Every year, we celebrate the successes of our best-performing Travel Counsellors with a luxurious trip to one of the world’s most exclusive destinations. Last week, our Gold-awarded Travel Counsellors spent a fantastic weekend in one of Tenerife’s finest resorts, the spectacular Bahia del Duque.
When a Travel Counsellor reaches Gold status, it means they’ve grown their business significantly in a 12 month period. By recognising these achievements with a Gold Weekend trip, Travel Counsellors not only enjoy a wonderful experience in a lavish location, but they’re also able to build their product knowledge and use it as a networking opportunity with other high-performing Travel Counsellors. It’s all a fabulous incentive for all Travel Counsellors to hit the next big milestone in their Travel Counsellors journey.
Whilst on the Gold Weekend trip, Travel Counsellors can choose from a huge range of excursions – our recent Tenerife trip featured National Park tours, carnival and shopping tours of Santa Cruz, diving experiences, kayaking, golf and even whale watching! But for a touch of relaxation, there always the resort pool and spa facilities!
Reaching Gold status is a special milestone in the career of any Travel Counsellor, which is why our Gold Weekends are always such memorable occasions.
Here is what some of our newest Gold Travel Counsellors thought about their Gold Weekend experience – and how their lives have been transformed by joining Travel Counsellors:
Ben Burgess –
It was a really great feeling to go along on the Gold Weekend in Tenerife. The camaraderie and support from the other Travel Counsellors was amazing. I’m already looking forward to next year’s trip. One of the reasons I think my business has grown and developed is because I provide 100% support. I provide my clients with around the clock support at any time they need me, this also applies to my fellow Travel Counsellors. If I am called upon any time, I am always there to lend a hand.
If you are thinking about becoming a Travel Counsellor my advice would be to think hard, make a plan, set goals and stick to them! It’s definitely not a simple choice to make but with a little determination and a great plan, anything is possible. Since making the decision to be a Travel Counsellor, I have not looked back. My earnings have tripled and the opportunities have been fantastic. I couldn’t imagine working for anyone else or in a 9 to 5 call centre travel agency ever again.
My work life balance is better than it ever has been. Although I am available 24/7 to my clients, that doesn’t mean I am working 24/7. I set my own work hours, allowing me so much more time to enjoy myself which is something that just wasn’t possible in a regular travel agency. I also have the support of other wonderful Travel Counsellors who look after my business as if it were their own so I can take a break or a holiday whenever I like, knowing my clients are being well looked after. Joining Travel Counsellors is the best decision I have ever made.

The best thing about the Gold Weekend for me was meeting other Travel Counsellors who have achieved and retained Gold status. It was so inspirational and motivating. My motto that I live by is “The more you put in... the more you get out”. I firmly believe that being in control, being passionate and being proud has helped me grow my business! Believing in yourself is essential and the opportunities with Travel Counsellors are endless.
I am my own boss. I decide what hours I work, when, what to sell and what customers I want to look after. I am in control of my own destiny yet without the risks that normally go with setting up on your own. Having flexibility with my work schedule and my time is something that no amount of money could ever, ever make up for. It’s IMPORTANT. It’s one of the biggest benefits of being self-employed – you get your life.
I’m an important member of a global company that have a proven track record. Importantly, Travel Counsellors is a safe place to be. I don’t have to worry about licensing, legislation, technology and hefty operating costs. I have worked in the travel industry for over 25 years and have a wealth of travel knowledge. I have travelled extensively during my career which enables me to provide insider tips and make personal many recommendations. Now I’m a Gold Travel Counsellor too and I couldn’t be happier!
