There was a distinct buzz in the air last Friday as Travel Counsellors from across the country arrived in Cairns for the highly anticipated 2018 Annual Conference themed “A Future Without Limits”.

Travel Counsellors kicked the conference off with informative workshops featuring a meeting with the Directors, plus sessions on cruise and managing groups ahead of a Welcome Pool Party where Travel Counsellors reconnected with old friends and met new ones throughout the casual evening under the stars. Guests were handed headphones for a surprise Silent Disco and they let loose to a playlist ranging from old school favourites to the hottest hits.

For the next 2 days Travel Counsellors and their partners, global directors, the Melbourne support team, sponsors and partner suppliers came together to be inspired for their future. Following opening addresses from CEO Steve Byrne and Regional MD Kaylene Shuttlewood, surfer Layne Beachley AO captivated the audience with her stories of overcoming fears and embracing the power of “I am” and conference charity partner, the Royal Flying Doctor Service shared some incredible stories. The marketing team unveiled innovative customer marketing tools and training programs whilst the commercial team shared more on the investment and developments made into the incredible Phenix quote and book system, recently named a finalist in Best Travel tech innovation for the 2018 NTIA awards. Travel Counsellor Carol Mills shared her Travel Counsellors journey of more than 10 years, a true highlight of the day.

Guests glammed up for the Gala Awards Dinner on Saturday night to celebrate the successes of Top Achievers across the network with 10 Travel Counsellors recognised for their achievements, each winning a place on the incredible award trip to Fiji. Celebrations continued throughout the evening as guests took to the dancefloor and danced the night away.

Sunday morning brought fantastic energy as more awards winners and prizes were announced ahead of presentations from sales keynote speaker Cian McLoughlin, and the global sales team. Commercial Director Kirsten Hughes shared her love for Travel Counsellors ahead of the official closing of the event by Kaylene Shuttlewood. Speaking of the event, Travel Counsellor Hamish Naicker said; “I. Love. My. Job. This weekend at conference has been a whirlwind of meeting amazing people; inspiring people” while Travel Counsellor Rebecca Lipscomb commented: “What an amazing conference in beautiful Cairns. Love the people and all the positive vibes. Best decision ever to be my own boss and run my own travel business”.
