August is women's month and we will be focusing on some of the special women who have grabbed hold of the opportunity to start their own travel business from home. Each have different journeys but one thing remains they all have a love for travel and a passion to deliver exceptional customer service. This means they are now reaping the rewards from their efforts. Travel Counsellors changed Jelena's world for the better.

Many people crave the freedom and flexibility of being their own boss, as well as being able to enjoy the rewards of their hard work – it’s what our Travel Counsellors’ value most of all. 

Prior to be becoming a Travel Counsellor Jelena Williams worked for a large retail organisation. Jelena joined the Travel Counsellors family after building up a wealth of travel experience working in the travel industry with her last position as an Assistant Manager at a large retail organisation in a busy shopping centre. Just over a year ago she put her many years’ of experience to good use and she started her own travel business as a franchisee of Travel Counsellors.

“I am so grateful to Travel Counsellors for giving me the opportunity to be part of this amazing company. To be my own boss and to be free from the 9 to 5 work grind is amazing.

I am most grateful for being able to enjoy so many precious moments with my family especially for me to see my little girl grow and to develop every day.  As a Travel Counsellor I am able to spend afternoons, weekends and school holidays with her, and not be too concerned about arranging for babysitters or begging my boss to take some time off to go and see a play, or take her to extra mural activities during the day.

Travel Counsellors has given me a better life for which I am grateful for.  It is not an easy job to do, working from home, sometimes it can be tough where I sometimes want to close the laptop and never open it again, but just like everything else, the day goes by, problems are sorted and I still love what I do.

I’ve made a point to myself to pick up the phone more often (I can see it on my phone bill), but it is totally worth it. Jelena’s business is growing steadily and at the Travel Counsellors most recent conference she was awarded winner of Phenix 2015/6.  This refers to Travel Counsellors dynamic packaging system that allows her to tailor-make a package within a few minutes and includes flights, car hire or transfers, accommodation and city attractions. Through this system Jelena gets access to product at very affordable rates so her clients get a great deal, but the commission inbuilt into these packages sits at 20% plus where she can mark this up or down as she needs.  This system is available 24/7 which means that she can service her clients after hours, take payment after-hours so she can satisfy her clients 100% when other agents would need to wait for the tour operators to open. This system helps Jelena to service her clients better and to offer a truly concierge service. It’s the tools like this that helps to set Jelena apart from her competitors so that she can win business and earn more.
