Our Travel Counsellors have had an incredible month with record-breaking sales throughout January and global operations seeing a 15% year-on-year rise.
With over 1,700 self-employed franchisees running their own home-based travel businesses across seven countries, we’ve achieved global sales of R1,315 B (£77.4m) in January. This includes our highest sales figure achieved in a single day with bookings topping R74,8 M (£4.4million) on January 31st – the first-time sales have surpassed the 68 M (£4 million) mark in our 24-year history.
As a company, we don’t have retail shops or online booking engines, so our sales figures come purely from our homeworkers. We don’t compete with our franchisees. We focus purely on supporting them, so they can concentrate on delivering the best levels of service to their customers and building hugely successful businesses. As a result, our Travel Counsellors are earning more than ever and over 340 celebrated their best sales month for their individual businesses in January.
We also had record levels of bookings made through our in-house booking system Phenix, which allows Travel Counsellors to dynamically package tailor-made itineraries whilst being in control of their margin and the experience for their customers. On the last day of the month, R34 M (£2 million) in sales was secured through the system, with our own 'TC Packages' making up R23,8 M (£1.4 million).
It’s an exciting time for our franchisees and our latest sales results reinforce our ongoing success story. As a company, we’ve enjoyed 16 years of consecutive growth, achieving revenues of R3,196 B (£188 million) in the year to October 2016. We’ve also been listed in the Sunday Times International Track 200 for five out of the past six years, we’ve been placed in the Sunday Times Top Track 250 for the last two years and most recently, we’ve received the Lloyds Bank National Business Award for Customer Focus.
