I love South Africa, but from time to time we live with challenges that are unique to our territory. Over the past year, I have personally gone through some hardships and difficult times living in South Africa. These have been extremely trying but Travel Counsellors has been amazing!

In April this year, was at a family funeral in Branston, I parked my car behind a guarded palisade fence with one gate guarded by a Security Guard. I had been asked by the family to sit in the front pew of the church with the family, so I decided it was apt and safe to leave my 2 cell phones well-hidden in the side pocket of my car door.

After a ¾ of an hour service, I dashed back to my car to pick up any missed calls and I was devastated to find that both my iPhone and Samsung had been stolen. They had auto jammed by car locking system …
Then panic struck in as I thought about how losing my phone could impact my business.

Questions filled my mind
• Had I lost all my client info and numbers?
• What about clients who had called – left messages I wouldn’t know, and they would think I hadn’t cared to return their call
• What if I had missed a big enquiry or a client who had a problem.

I did the sim swop but worried about the client info that I might be missing, but I was so thankful for Travel Counsellors systems, as I was able to quickly and easily access my client’s info from Travel Counsellors customer relationship management system and I could input any missing client information back onto my phone.

Through Travel Counsellors systems I was able to send out a notification to all my clients telling them that my phone had been stolen and that if they had sent a message to please resend or to message me and I would call them back.

I now leave one cell at home and carry one with me wherever I go with a voice message on both saying if I’m not available on the one number I will be available on the other. Hee hee, this does sometimes lead to problems when I’m at home and find myself having my two phones and a landline ringing at the same time…
