Angela is a wife, a mom and a business owner.

Angela joined Travel Counsellors in November 2014. We caught up with Angela to find out a bit more about her journey to becoming a Travel Counsellor and then about her life as a Travel Counsellor.

What first attracted you to become a Travel Counsellor?

Honestly, I have always wanted to be an ITC ever since the model was first introduced but I just didn’t have the guts to do it on my own.

A few months after I had Adam, I wanted to go back to work and knew that working office hours would not allow me to spend time with my family.

I had saved up some money to take me through the first few months of being an ITC and with the support of my husband I knew this would work out for me.

I looked at a few ITC models but what really stuck out for me with TC was the fact that Travel Counsellors was an international company and I just loved Phenix (Travel Counsellors dynamic packaging system.) I have always enjoyed putting my own packages together which gives me total control over my booking and Phenix made it possible.

I also liked the easy set up with TC. I didn’t have to form my own company nor buy my own equipment.
The technology provided is phenomenal, the support incredible and the deals that we are able to access being an international company have helped me secure a lot more business.

Travel Counsellors promises a career that offers: freedom, flexibility, a better work-life-balance, greater rewards, rewards, recognition. Can you describe what a future without limits looks like?

I love that I am able to spend time with my boys. They are both little and I am grateful that I can take them to swimming lessons, playdates, soccer etc. I am grateful to be my own boss.
I love our TC community – we often get together in my area and I don’t get lonely.
I’ve been on 2 educationals in 2 years and attend training often which adds value to my business.
One thing for certain is that you will earn more money as an ITC.

What does your life look like as a TC (what does a typical week look like for you?)
I try to work mornings only so that I can spend my afternoons with my boys.

I always try to attend Supplier training.

What is your biggest personal goal?
To be honest, I feel so blessed to have achieved my biggest personal goals already – marrying my amazing husband, having 2 gorgeous boys and working for myself.

But I always have and always will still love to travel so that is always on the cards.

We are currently building our dream home, so I am very focused on that. Yesterday we spent 3 hours choosing bathroom tiles. If I worked in a normal job, there would be absolutely no time for that.
I just don’t know how people in normal jobs get time to do life!

What is your goal for your business?

Last year I was R70k short of doubling my business from the previous year.
This year it is my goal to smash and improve on last years sales.

Have you already achieved a dream of yours whilst being a Travel Counsellor (could be having achieved a work-life balance, maybe buying a dream house or car, or perhaps having travelled to a bucket list destination or maybe you are still working towards it)

I have achieved so many of my goals whilst being a TC – the work-life balance, buying a dream house and travelling to Reunion Island.

What would be your greatest wish in life that you would love to achieve
To travel with my family
