We recently welcomed three new and very experienced Travel Counsellors to our growing TC family. All 3 of them have a wealth of experience and we are just delighted to have Emer, Imelda and Brian on board.

Let us introduce you to them:

Emer McDermott is from Galway originally but has ran her own travel agency, McDermott Travel in Westport for the last 16 years, which she closed to become a Travel Counsellor this year.

"I have had my own travel agency for the last 16 years, but I feel that the Travel Counsellor's business concept is the progressive way forward. For me, the cost of running a retail agency personally & financially had become a real burden. It has been crazy busy since my move from my agency to Travel Counsellors but I have been motivated by the sheer joy of working on my own and not having to worry about staff."

Imelda McCarthy, who is based in Midleton, Co. Cork, has over 24 years' industry experience. Imelda was most recently working for a long-haul tour operator in Munster as a destination specialist for South East Asia and prior to that, she worked in a retail travel agency and the airline business.

"I decided I needed a career change within the travel industry and the Travel Counsellors ethos of providing excellent care and support is a core value that resonates with me. Having the opportunity to run my own business, with the flexibility to choose my own hours gives me the work life balance that suits me. It also means unlimited earning potential, along with access to marketing and state-of-the-art technology. I can now earn a living doing what I love doing - selling holidays to people - but I can now do it for myself and not do if for someone else. The induction process so far has been great. I completed the pre-induction modules online before my official induction which meant I had access to their in-house Coach system which provides an amazing variety of travel and sales related courses, modules and webinars. I am finding the transition from office to home working quite different now, but I know I will get used to it very quickly. It's so important that I have time for my kids. I don't have to even think about whether I can see my daughter perform in the school choir now. If I need to, I can even work with the kids in the house. Working for myself means I can do what I love all the time."

Brian Hynes is from Dublin and has worked for The Travel Corporation as well as Trailfinders for over 8 years.

"I was the Sales Manager for The Travel Corporation before I started with Travel Counsellors. I attended the Travel Counsellor's conference back in March and was really impressed. I have always loved helping people with their travel needs and wanted to work for myself. The chance to work from home and work my own hours was a major attraction so I chatted to several current Travel Counsellors before taking the plunge. I really enjoyed the induction even though it was very tiring with lots to take in. Working from home gives me so much flexibility. I enjoy dropping the kids to school then being able to catch up in the evening and on the weekend if needed. In my new role with Travel Counsellors, I am motivated to make my business a success, to be able to spend quality time with my family and continue to travel with them."
