Every summer holiday, Travel Counsellors hold a much-anticipated Family Day for Travel Counsellors, Head Office staff and their partners and children to all get together for a day of fun, games and lot of laughs. It’s the perfect way to get to catch up with and make new friends, and let off a bit of steam!
On Saturday 12th August, 190 Travel Counsellors, family and friends descended on Go Ape, a thrilling tree-top adventure park in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire.
“My 1 year old son Ben was too young for the tree-top course or sports, but he loved the picnic area by the marquee, playing in the ball pit and every now and again averting his gaze upwards to watch someone careering down the zip wire! It was a really fun day out, and I’ve only been a TC for a couple of months but it’s events like this that re-affirms what a great company I have joined.” James Wilson, Travel Counsellor
The day was filled with plenty of activities, games and competitions including bike riding through the forest, Segway tours and treasure hunts, with surprise appearances from the Gruffalo himself!
“We always look forward to Family Day as it’s not just about the day of activities or a nice lunch, it’s about sharing the family love with my fellow TCs and their families. My youngest daughter was 5 when I started so she has grown up and made great friends with other TC’s children especially my buddy Debbie Johnson’s children. It’s lovely to see them hug on arrival and spend the day together, then a squeeze goodbye at the end!” Sarah Smith, Travel Counsellor
Everyone enjoyed a yummy hog roast and forest BBQ, followed by a big game of rounders and football.
“I attended the family day with my husband and eldest son and his girlfriend (they’re 26 and 21 years old!). We stayed for the weekend arriving on Friday and left Sunday and camped at a nearby campsite. The food and activities organised by TC were great! A great opportunity to catch up with other TC’s and their families. It was all very well organised and so much fun… brilliant for little kids and us grown up kids too!” Cheryl Guest, Travel Counsellor
And of course, everyone was swinging from the tree tops as they took the skies and explored the high ropes course at Go Ape.
“My kids absolutely loved it, I did the junior course with my son Jaxon and my partner went with my teenage daughter Madison on the adult course, so it was fab they both had things they could do. Highlight of the day was the rounders game for us.” Paula Hancock, Travel Counsellor
“My son Jacob & I had such a wonderful day. Our business is based on building relationships, so what better way to integrate Head Office, Travel Counsellors and our families, than over a friendly game of rounders in the sun?! It’s so important our families are part of the Travel Counsellor experience from a both a HO & TC perspective in order to gain their support so days like the family day really bring us all together in a friendly fun atmosphere.” Teri Hughes, Business Development Coach.
The annual family day is just one of the events we hold throughout the year where Travel Counsellors can come along with their families to enjoy some fun and games. There’s often some time for training at the other events we hold, but at the Family Day, it’s all play and no work! Our thanks to Virgin Atlantic, Delta Airlines, Royal Caribbean and G Adventures for helping us put on another brilliant TC Family Day!
