Victoria Trundle from our Business Development team recently spoke to Debbie Johnson, Sarah Smith and Katie Kirk, some of our newest Travel Counsellors who have achieved Gold status exceptionally quickly. They have all excelled in their new business ventures and achieved fantastic results in record time. They shared their top tips with Victoria, on what they think made their business such a quick-fire success.

Debbie Johnson told us that her number one top tip is asking for referrals. They won’t come to you themselves, and simply asking customers when you’ve provided a great service to share their experiences with others can make all the difference. There is always the opportunity at some point to ask your clients for a referral, even if it’s after booking, after their holiday, in a welcome home pack – plenty of options. Referrals also build up your business organically creating a healthy community of happy customers who love your service. Debbie also sets herself goals and targets which she can work towards in order to continually grow her development as a Travel Counsellor. By splitting up tasks and creating manageable goals you are feeling the benefit of your work and making sure you recognise your own achievements. With regards to customers, Debbie always creates value early. This means her customers feel the benefit of using a Travel Counsellor early in their booking process as Debbie sets herself apart from other travel companies. By using the marketing tools available and implementing them in the right way to suit her customers, Debbie creates a specific plan which she knows works best for that individual traveller. It is a combination of these things which have enabled Debbie to achieve Gold status so early on in her career. Well done Debbie!

Another Travel Counsellor who is excelling in her new business is Katie Kirk. Katie also cannot express the value of referrals enough! By ensuring that she always mentions referrals to each and every customer, she is building her network of customers and getting her name known in the industry. Katie sends out business cards after each new booking for her clients to pass onto people they know. This is so effective and simple to achieve. With professional, well designed business cards being distributed not only by the Travel Counsellor themselves but their clients too, the impression of the business gets off to a perfect start. One of Katie’s top tips is also to send out Welcome Home cards to her customers when they get back from their break as this is a lovely personal touch which really lets customers know they’re valued. Great work Katie!

Our third Travel Counsellor to earn her Gold status is Sarah Smith. Consistency is key for Sarah who always treats her customers with the same flawless respect, attention to detail and efficiency at all times – regardless of booking size. Whether the customer wants a short, budget break away or the trip of a lifetime around the world, Debbie will ensure that the customer gets exactly what they want. Sarah sets herself monthly goals which helps her business grow step by step in a way which she can manage and maintain. A few other top tips from Sarah include attending training events, acknowledging all enquiries as soon as possible and sending a text message on the day of clients departures. Building relationships is also a crucial part of how Sarah grows her business, making the most of events, sharing what her business is about and getting her name noticed within her community.

Each of these amazing Travel Counsellors have shown that simple steps in growing your business from the beginning can have a huge impact on your success. Communication and relationships are vital.
