At Travel Counsellors, we recognise the importance of training and development for home-based agents and this week, we are delighted to welcome Ben Quinn to the Business Development team. Armed with his industry knowledge and experience gained as a trainer, Ben joins Travel Counsellors Australia as Training and Business Development Executive. In between his intensive induction and hitting the road on his first training series, we managed to catch up with him for a bit of Q&A this week:

Hi Ben! We're excited to have you! What was it that attracted you to Travel Counsellors?

The company’s focus on providing great customer service, as well as the support level we can provide in head office for TC’s.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

Doing my part in helping support and develop our Travel Counsellors to be the best they can be.

How will your experience benefit the Travel Counsellors?

I trained a wide range of different people in my previous role so have dealt with many learning styles. Hopefully, I can use this experience to help Travel Counsellor’s reach their full potential!

One week in, can you describe your first impressions?

I am amazed at how focused everyone is at helping the TC’s, such a supportive company!

What can people expect from your company and what sets it apart from the rest?

Developing our Travel Counsellor's from the moment they step foot in our company, as well as providing fantastic on-training is incredibly important and the best way to do this is through structured, relevant training that I will help deliver.

What’s one of the biggest achievements of your career so far?

Winning an Australia wide famil with Air NZ that sent me to Coachella!

What’s the best advice ever given to you and who gave it?

‘Give everything a crack, the worst thing that can happen is nothing changes and you learn from the experience.’ Scott Schwartz (Scott was my boss while I worked at USA summer camps).

What are three things you always take with you when travelling?

Passport, power adapter and a good book.

What’s a memorable travel experience you’ve had (good or bad)?

A home stay experience in Iceland, one of the most beautiful countries in the world!

Ben represents Travel Counsellors Australia within a global training team too! Speaking of his appointment, Head of Sales Tracy Parkinson said, “We are excited about the knowledge and experience that Ben brings to the team. Having this additional resource in Australia will enable us to deliver more tailored training to our Travel Counsellors, empowering them to take their business to the next level and be the best they can be.”
