Travel agents love to travel and explore… it's in their DNA. And Travel Counsellors are no different! Holding the annual conference in Cairns this year seemed like the perfect opportunity to get out an explore the local area further so for the first time, pre- and post touring options were offered as a part of the conference program. The options on offer provided Travel Counsellors a fantastic opportunity to experience the best of Far North Queensland and further develop their knowledge of the area.

With the support of local partners, eight different activities headed out around the region. Early risers were in for a treat taking off early in the morning on a hot air balloon ride, gliding over the Cairns Highlands and Atherton Tablelands taking in the scenery. Travel Counsellor Deborah was impressed; “For a person who has a fear of heights, I can’t recommend it enough! The scenery and sunrise were awesome” while Kris Higgins thought the experience was “exhilarating and lots of fun”.

There were lots of other activities to choose from including the 7.2km scenic Sky Rail to Karunda and return train ride, the Hartley’s crocodile tour, a Cape Tribulation and Daintree experience and several cruise options to explore the Great Barrier Reef including Green Island, the Low Isles and Michaelmas Cay. A highlight for many was the Tjapukai Cultural Park where Travel Counsellors gained a deeper understanding of Australia’s Aboriginal heritage.

The touring was a great way to mingle with colleagues and friends. At Travel Counsellors, we are proud of our culture and the sense of community that runs through our network and it was fantastic to see the agents and staff reconnect with old friends and make new ones!
